Fess Parker's
Frontier Red
We ran across this big
bold red wine on sale at Whole Foods of all places. At 8.99 a
bottle we thought, what the heck, give it a whirl. We were
grilling up
Spiced Rubbed Pork Chops with a
Mango Black Bean Jicama Salsa.
A cheap red like this
couldn't be bad, right?
Wrong!
It was great!
At 15.5% alcohol, it
packs a whollop! Usually when a wine has this high of an alcohol
content, the "subtleties" of the wine are long gone. Not this bold
bruiser though! This red had plenty of personality and was also
flexible enough to pair up nicely with our combination of pork and
salsa. It's certainly not a serious wine, but it does do food an
incredible justice.
My guess is that you
can find this cheaper elsewhere. Whole Foods does a nice job
pricing wines, but there's a bet out there that you can find it
cheaper at your liquor emporium!
