Travel Ski With The Hogs

Skiing With The Hogs

The Honorary Hogs are avid skiers.

Mind you that avid and great are not the same thing.

We consider ourselves "Blue/Black Cruisers". We like steep, groomed runs designed for smooth, fast skiing. Mogul skiing and some of the extreme skiing are for people that are into the challenge of the sport. We on the other hand just want to enjoy ourselves while at the same time getting some exercise in and enjoying the great outdoors.

The Hogs have skied in New Mexico, Montana, Colorado, British Columbia and also r Wyoming.

Most of us are from the flatlands and any area out west is impressive to us. However, we would like to share some tidbits with you about the various areas that we've visited and hopefully it will be of use when YOU decide to strap 'em on!

Let us know about YOUR experiences!

When To Go

There's always the question of when is the perfect time to go. We explore this in further detail here.

What to Wear

Don't get caught with too much or too little clothing. Remember skiing means going into the mountains, which translates into ever changing weather conditions.

Equipment

What's the most important piece of equipment for a skier? How much should you pay? When should you buy and where? These are all questions we try to answer here

Rating the Resorts

As we told you in the introduction, we've been all over North America. Here's our guide to the resorts we've been to.

1999 Ski Report

Our first trip to Utah and our first taste of that dry powder that everyone raves about.

2000 Ski Report

We loved the Utah experience so much we even convinced Schpoozie to come with us. We ski Deer Valley for the first time.

2001 Ski Report

Well, Schpoo loved the Park City scene so much, he wanted us to experience it by actually staying in the village itself, much to the chagrin of purists like Russell and Caveman. Since Schpoo is our fearless leader, he lead us to the promised land that is skiing in Park City (babes, brews and bruises).

2002 Ski Report

2002 Ski Report Wyoming

2002 Ski Report Utah

December 2002 Ski Report The boys invade Alta for the first time, as well as visiting an old favorite! Find out about early season skiing!

2003 Ski Report

The boys return to Big Sky for the first time in almost 10 years. Will it be as great as they remembered it? Or will it be a disappointment. Find out what the boys thought of their Montana ski trip!

2004 Ski Report

Winter Park Colorado served as the base for some very early Hog Ski Trips. We return this year with some handy tips on lift tickets, mountain strategy and lodging recommendations!

2005 Ski Report

Whew! We almost didn't make it, but we did manage to ski during calendar year 2005. Uncle Rusty to the rescue on this trip. Thanks Russ!

2006 Ski Report

Aspen Colorado. Ski Nazi catches cold and still gets his verticals in!

Winter Park, Colorado: Coming Soon

2007 Ski Report With all of the trips we have planned, we were looking for cheap and convenient. This year, Steamboat, Colorado fit that bill perfectly
2008 Ski Report We skied Utah in February and Cyberhog skied in Lake Tahoe in March and logged a huge trip report, including some X-rated hi jinx.

2009 Ski Report

The long awaited follow up to the Tahoe/Reno trip from 2008. One of these days we'll ski Sun Valley, but this year the boys intended to head out to Reno for some gamblin, skiing and a little hanky panky.

East Coast Skiing

Our East Coast Hog and misguided Tampa Bay Buc fan TBB gives us a report on skiing on the right coast.

Some of the sites we have found useful when researching the sport we love.
