Amenities:

Everything you'd want in a room and more with flat screen tv's (there's even one in the bathroom), a great writing desk and mini bar.

View:

View of the Luxor and just beyond, the south strip. Our room had a view of the Rio and Palms as well, with a wide view of US 15.

Other:

We've stayed in a lot of places on the Strip, but THEHotel at Mandalay Bay has seemed more like home for us than any others. We especially like the convenience of the parking and the friendliness of the staff. Understand, this is strictly about the room because we don't really care for the food choices at Mandalay Bay (the buffet's not bad for one night), nor do we like the casino (never feels like it's active and our luck has always been terrible there). So for subsequent trips, I'm sure we'll continute to stay at THEHotel (ok, I'll admit, it's an annoying name) and play and eat elsewhere. But the comfort level in the rooms, especially the mattresses and the separate soaking tub, are terrific.  Index

We've stayed there before trying to get the elusive outside corner
room even prepared to pony up $20 to get it. This time they offered us
the outside corner on the 31st floor without me saying a word. Billed
as a 'little' larger I'd class it as 'noticeably' larger than the
standard 725 sq.ft room. I'd have to say this is the 'best' room we've
stayed in at this price range ($159). Views included the pool,
landings and takeoffs at the airport and from the bedroom you can see
down to Wynn. Being the end room in the hallway there is the small
hike and housekeeping comes late unless you call them and set
something else up. Furnishings are plush by any standard. We've stayed
at Bellagio and Wynn but prefer THE Hotel. Besides the plush desk,
suitable for THE Donald there's a nice wet bar. Bring your own liquor
unless you're a high roller. THE bed. Supremely comfortable. Not the
high thread count linens that Wynn has (excellent) but a decent nights
sleep. Soundproofing excellent. Newspaper delivery every morning.
One note: Booking a room in this place can be discounted if you ask
for the 'pay up front, no cancellation rate'. I booked 2 months in
advance and saved $140 over the internet rate for the first 3 nights
when I booked. The 4th night, a Wed was only 'held' and not paid for
@$299 (convention in town). I watched the rate only climb and top out
@429 before it sold out. Index

This is a real suite, consisting of a living room, a bedroom and two
bathrooms, for a total of 750 square feet. The living room has a
couch, a big plasma tv, a dvd player, a work desk with a swivel chair
plus a fax machine and a mini bar (with jelly beans !). The bedroom
has two queen beds, another tv and a quite beautiful cupboard. The
rooms have killer views across the Strip, being high enough to look
over the pyramid and just a few floors below Mix, though the windows
were a bit dirty. You could see the (huge) difference when looking
from the balcony of Mix lateron. The bathroom had a huge tub (we fit
into it side by side) and walk-in shower. Very nice toilettries.
Pretention won out at the toilet, with toilet paper being labeled as
"THE tp". Index
