Most have described the Fitzgerald rooms as "Holiday Inn"-ish and I would have to agree especially since Holiday Inn owns the casino.  The room had been remolded previously and was clean and for less than $20 who can complain.  The towels were used when I checked in and I'm guessing the person checking out sneaked back in for a quick shower before departing?  Called down to the front desk and they didn't have a comparable room with a view, so they contacted housekeeping and they sent someone up immediately to clean up while I gambled.  Very efficient service.  I left a 2$ tip for house keeping every day with a thankyou note on the pillow, and they provided a few extra towels and extra bathroom stuff without asking.

Fitzgerald's has 34 floors and I chose the 32 floor (32 is the floor and 26 is the room.  I believe all the even number rooms face towards the Plaza Hotel? ) to be far enough away from room mounted AC units and as far away from the Fremont Street experience as possible.  Never did hear any noise from the show.  The room was two doors down from the elevator, and the ice and soda machine, but given the bend down the hallway and the room construction I didn't hear any associated noise, but I'd try and get something a few more doors down if possible.  Elevators were efficient but not adequately cooled enough in the August heat for my liking.

The view was great.  You look right out over top of the Four Queens tower, which at night had the dancing lights on the wall.  The views of the Plaza and Binions is unobstructed and Binions rooftop swimming pool was easily visible.  The complete Fremont Street Experience chute was visible at Night.  All in all a great vantagepoint for downtown nighttime viewing and I'd recommend taking your binoculars.

As for the room amenities they were standard and most importantly clean and OK quality.  Single sink, tub, and shower in the bathroom with good water pressure.  No hair dryer.  An open closet outside of the bathroom with luggage rack, safe, ironing board, and a huge clothes iron.   No charge for using the wall safe but I normally don't use them;  No charge for safe deposit boxes down in the main cage which I prefer since they have cameras pointed at them hopefully 24 hours/day.

Two single beds, nightstand,  dresser, armoire with TV, dresser, and a small round table by the windows.  Standard stuff, clean, but nothing fancy.  My only complaint is with the wall air conditioning unit;  I live in the midst of six acres of land so I have a small tolerance for "city noise", and the unit could have been a little quieter for my liking.  It was a new unit and could turn the room into an icebox in August so I wasn't complaining much.

Fitzgeralds Room:  2124:        posted 12/11/02
Day:             Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday
Dates:           August 26 thru30th
Rate:            Free
Recommend:       Yes
Agency: Comped all 4 nights
Amenities: This is a Club 21 room which is a "bit" above the regular room (have stayed in those in the past). It is basically the same size as a regular room but has additional amenities. King bed with 31" TV, Iron/board, coffee/coffee maker, large bath with tons of toiletries including oatmeal soap if you wanted to wash your oatmeal, Easy chair, desk/chair with data port, Standard table and chairs, safe, etc. Also provided two bottles of water/day and a USA Today newspaper. Had turndown service with the little mint patty deal. Bout 50' to the elevators and ice/vending machines. Elevators were quick and dropped off in the casino or  second floor restaurant area.
View: View westward toward the Plaza with the mountains in the distance.
Other: Great room, good gaming and great location. I don't know what the normal cost of this room is but it is definitely worth a premium over the regular rooms. Not as nice as the Nugget but definitely #2 Downtown. This hotel/casino is no longer a Holiday Inn-bought out by Barden of Chicago last year. One caution-there is no pool or spa at Fitzgeralds.  Index
