Stratosphere Room 11-15-44

11-15-44 was a suite in the new tower sized at about 650 square feet. For the $175 + tax we shelled out, it worked decent for four of us, because we got a rollaway at no additional cost.  The room was U shaped with the bathroom filling the center of the U. The decor was that of a tasteful tanish color, not the wild looking colors I've seen on the Strat's website. It had two Queen sized beds, a couch that folded out into a standard size bed, a 27 inch TV in a cabinet, fridge, iron and board, and some chairs and tables. I don't remember a safe, but it may have had one. The view was that of facing the Rio, and I could not see the Strat's pool.

The bathroom had a very large jacuzzi tub, with lots of controls, that took over 50 minutes to fill to a decent water level, a separate shower area, two sinks, and a hair dryer. There was a lot of free crap in the bathroom. Free crap meaning shampoo, conditioners, lotions, and some other stuff I forget about, not the stinking crap. Index

Day:  Thursday
Rate: $15 & tax & $2.50 energy surcharge
Recommend: Yes
Agency: Direct via toll-free number. This was a casino rate only available direct.
Amenities: Large room with great king bed and table with two chairs plus dresser. Large bathroom with blow dryer, shampoo ,fluffy towels and lotion. Iron and board with large safe. 50' to elevators (exited just off casino) and additional 50' to ice machine. Individual a/c controls.
View: What view?? Asked for room in new section but was told it was an "upgrade" and would cost extra. Since I only use a room to sleep, shower and shave, I passed. It was on the 9th floor overlooking the garage but I don't sit in my room staring out the window so I was okay with it.
Other: Almost didn't make the trip as Orbitz screwed up my reservations TWICE and then were unavailable to correct the problems. Luckily the airline could and did. Don't use Orbitz! Also, drink service in the casino was very bad-maybe due to a 9/11 cutback but I didn't have trouble downtown or off-strip.   Index

Agency: Booked room through Slot club Amenities:  Desk with 2 chairs, pen with a stratosphere tower cap, couple of bottles of lotion and shampoo, 4 plastic glasses, a safe, 2 beds, 25" television, tiled bathroom, and notepad.  View:  Nice view of the city.  Could not see any other hotels from the window.  Could see the Olympic Gardens though.  22nd story with a nice view.  Other:  Great gambling downstairs.  Those crazy multi-line nickel machines are hit and miss.  I would put $5 in and not hit and then I'd go to another machine and win some, but lose it all back.  Made for a good time though b/c I'd win and then lose.  The place kept me playing with minimal losses for 3-4 hours.
