Room 1426 posted
5/6/01
I was in a two queen bed room (1426) with a very nice view of the pool (and
mountains over on the right, but the other building straight ahead), clean
and probably renovated fairly recently, very large bedroom and manageable
bathroom, $1 tip per day to the maid getting me enough soap and shampoo to
open a convenience store. The checkin guy was pretty rude and the
coffee shop people didn't seem at all interested in being nice, but overall
I'd definitely stay here again if the price was right and I needed to be
downtown. Thanks to Phil's L.A. Times deals I got $25 midweek and $60
weekend (if I'd played a while in the poker room I could have got that down
to $45). The only bad news was the phone didn't have a data port so I
had to unplug the phone wire each time, except the little clip was snapped
off, so every night I had to go through a little ritual with a paper clip to
pry out the plug. Local calls are 50 cents for unlimited time.
I'd better stop with the hotel details now, I sense a Bermanesque (tm)
feeling coming on. Index

Room 1439 posted

NOVEMBER 12-17 PLAZA TOWER AT THE END BY VALET
PARKING ROOM # 14?? (DON'T RECALL, THINK IT WAS 1439 BUTT NOT SURE) ROOM
DESCRIPTION... LET'S SEE, HAD A DOOR (WITH A LOCK THAT WORKED), A WINDOW (IT
DIDN'T OPEN THOUGH), A TV (WITH REMOTE CONTROL) TOWELS (BOTH HAND AND BODY),
WASH CLOTHS, SOAP, AND SHAMPOO. THE ROOM WAS OF ADEQUATE SIZE FOR THE TWO OF
US AND IN ADDITION TO THE TWO BEDS, HAD A NICE LITTLE TABLE AND A COUPLE OF
CHAIRS, A NICE CHEST OF DRAWERS ( I THINK IT HAD 6 DRAWERS-I'LL TAKE NOTES THE
NEXT TIME SO I CAN BE MORE ACCURATE) FOR US TO STORE OUR UNDERWEAR AND OTHER
NON-HANG ABLE ARTICLES OF CLOTHING, AND A NICE LITTLE AREA WITH A ROD TO HANG
OUR HANG ABLE ARTICLES. THERE WAS A BUCKET FOR ICE ( I WENT SEVERAL TIMES TO
FETCH ICE FOR MY BRIDE) AND 4 NICE LITTLE INDIVIDUALLY WRAPPED PLASTIC GLASSES
(OF WHICH I THINK WE USED MAYBE TWO OF. my WIFE REQUESTED AN IRON AND IRONING
BOARD WHICH WAS WAS EXPEDITIOUSLY FETCHED UP TO OUR ROOM (AND ALTHOUGH THE
PERSON SHE CALLED SAID TO CALL BACK AS SOON AS SHE WAS FINISHED WITH IT, WHEN
SHE DID SO, IT REMAINED FOR THE DURATION OF OUR STAY-DIDN'T MATTER THOUGH,
BECAUSE THERE WAS PLENTY OF ROOM AND IT NEVER ONCE GOT INTO OUR WAY). THE VIEW
FROM OUR ROOM WAS OF THE TENNIS COURT AND THE SWIMMING POOL. THERE WASN'T MANY
FOLKS IN THE POOL, AND ONE DAY THERE WAS AN OLDER FELLOW ON THE TENNIS COURT.
I ADMIT THAT I WATCHED HIM FOR A FEW MINUTES ( I WAS WAITING FOR MY DARLING
BRIDE TO EMERGE FROM THE SHOWERING FACILITY) AND I TRIED TO IMAGINE WHICH OF
THE FORUM FOLKS HE COULD BE...HE HD FOUR TENNIS BALLS, HE'D LOB THEM OVER THE
NET, THEN HOBBLE TO FETCH THEM AND RETREAT TO THE SAME SIDE AND REPEAT THE
PROCEDURE!! I'LL ADMIT THERE WAS MORE THAN ONE COME TO MIND WHEN HE FAILED TO
SIMPLY HIT THEM BACK TO THE OTHER SIDE!! I COULD ALSO SEE SOME RAILROAD TRACKS
AND INTERSTATE 15-BOTH NORTH AND SOUTH BOUND SIDES. TRY AS I MIGHT, I CAN'T
POST A NEGATIVE THING ABOUT THE ROOM-I REFUSE TO FABRICATE SOMETHING MERELY
FOR POSTING PURPOSES. AS FOR THE COST, IT'S PAID FOR AND UNLESS SOMEONE IS
WANTING TO REIMBURSE ME, IT'S NOT REALLY ALL THAT BIG OF AN ISSUE. LET US SAY
THAT IS IN INDEED AFFORDABLE AND A VALUE FOR YOUR LODGING DOLLAR. WE WAS CLOSE
TO THE ELEVATOR, AND EVEN CLOSER TO THE CASINO ON DISMOUNTING THE ELEVATOR AND
THE BOTTOM OF OUR RIDE. WE HAD A NONSMOKING ROOM, AS DID THE COUPLE WE
JOURNEYED WITH WHO HAD THE ADJOINING ROOM. HE SMOKED IN THEIR NONSMOKING ROOM,
BUTT NO ONE CAME UP AND MADE HIM QUIT. THERE WAS NO STAINS NOR DID I DETECT A
SINGLE BURN SPOT IN THE CARPET-WE ACTUALLY HAD MAID SERVICE THIS TRIP (MY
BRIDE KEPT THE TRAVELERS CHECKS IN HER PURSE-THERE WAS NO SAFE IN THE ROOM
EITHER) AND FOR YOUR INFORMATION I LEFT AN ENVELOPE WITH A CRISP NEW $10.00
BILL IN IT MARKED 'HOUSEKEEPING' FOR WHOEVER EXERTED THE EFFORT TO SWAP OUT
THE TOWELS, LEAVE NEW SOAP, AND SHAMPOO. OH YEAH, WE HAD FACE TOWELS TOO...AND
MORE THAN TWO OF THEM-WE HAD THREE OF EACH OF THE THREE VARIETIES OF TOWELS IN
ADDITION TO THREE WASH CLOTHES EACH AND EVERY DAY WE WAS THERE!! YES INDEED,
I'D NOT ONLY STAY THERE AGAIN (AND WE SHALL) I'D ALSO RECOMMEND IT TO ANYONE
ELSE WHO IS LOOKING FOR A NICE CLEAN PLACE TO STAY IN DOWNTOWN LAS VEGAS. I
THINK THAT IS EVERYTHING YOU REQUESTED, IF NOT SAY SOMETHING AND I SHALL TRY
TO ADD IT ON. Index

Room: North Tower 812
posted 11/24/02
Day: Sunday Monday Tuesday Saturday
Dates: 11/16/02 -- 11/19/02
Rate: 50
Recommend: Yes
Agency: Plaza Website
Amenities: North Tower 812, a petite suite, is located dead in the middle
of the main tower. Its located close to the elevator and close to
the ice machine. It has a refrigerator in the room, and also had a
table with chairs and a couch and coffee table.
View: This room had a great view of the Fremont Street Experience,
although it might have been slightly better from 1 floor down (712). Great
during the shows to watch from the balcony instead of always having to go
down and watch from the street Other: The bathroom was
slightly small, but I didn't spend much time in their except for showers
and nature calls. The phone had a dataport, and the king bed was
relatively comfortable. For the price this was definitely worth what
I paid. Walking distance to most all downtown casinos. Index

the deluxe room was on the 3rd floor and it was
delightful. It was very
similar to the one in Sunset Station with a couple of differences. It had
lovely pictures on the walls, a nice size mirror and a full length mirror in
the sitting area. [Room 321 C.Hog!] I was very happy. Index

Booked a "deluxe room" from the Plaza's website.
It cost about 100 dollars more for the five nights. From the looks of my
buddies' rooms, the only real upgrade here was a decent sized refrigerator.
The bathtub and toilet are separate from the sink and both occupy cramped
quarters. The sink shares space with the closet and is carpeted which is
weird. Barrick Gaming provides you with a "traveler's kit" with a razor,
toothpaste and sewing kit along with lotions, shampoo and conditioner. The
rest of the room is fairly large with a small table and chairs. It is sparsely
appointed with a chest of drawers and armoire with a small television that
gets about 6 channels. The view is pretty crappy. It overlooks the Union
Pacific freight line although the trains zooming past didn't seem to bother us
all that much. The carpeting is old and dirty. The hallways need revamping
with chipped molding everywhere and an awful smell emanating (we thought) from
the ice machine down the hall. Elevator service was pretty snappy. Index

1628 North Tower posted 1/20/07
Room 1628 in the North Tower is unspectacular
and is in the early
stages of becoming threadbare but isn't unacceptable. It's a
non-smoking room with only trace amounts of that Plaza odor that
permeates the skin. Our view: The Plaza! The South Tower sat outside
our window along with a nice looking mountain in the distance. All in
all I was satisfied with the room and in the end I didn't have a
choice because the Plaza was the only hotel downtown that would allow a
Saturday check-in with a one night stay. Index
