New York New
York Room
2130
This is the smallest of the standard rooms at NYNY (ie least expensive).
The best feature of the room is that it is immediately next to the
elevators. The room has an o.k. view of the Tropicana/Excalibur and
the airport. There was little to no noise from the roller coaster.
The room is fairly small with one king size, comfortable, bed. You
can not see into the room from the doorway as you need to turn to the
right and walk down about a 5' "hall" of sorts. There is
an in-room safe that uses a digital code that you select. Immediately in
front of the bed is a small Armoires with draws and a TV. There was a
table with two chairs at the window. A closet for hanging clothes.
There was a sink with small vanity area outside the bathroom, with a built
in hair dryer. The bathroom was small with tile floors, toilet and
tub with shower. The toiletries provided were standard shampoo,
mouth wash, hand lotion, plus a sewing kit. Overall, this is a very
standard room with nothing particularly outstanding positive or negative,
except the proximity to the elevator.

Room: 805
Mini Suite: Jacuzzi tub in bedroom, king size bed, TV in built in cabinet
(20") tiled shower and floors, hairdryer, standard shampoo, etc.,
nice towels, closet, safe table and chairs.
View: Our view was of the parking garage, pool and in the distance the New
Orleans.
The room is down at the end of the hall (long hike) and you can definitely
hear the roar of the roller coaster in the room. They run it until
around 11:30. It was a very windy night and you could hear the wind
blowing in the room it was very noisy. Jacuzzi was a plus however
the jets are positioned too low in the tub, only one person can take
advantage of the jets at one time. Unless you just want them on your feet)
The room was comped to us and basically if I had to pay the fee that was
on the door I would not stay there again.....just an average Las Vegas
room, nothing special.

Room: 2354
Our room was a Marquis (sp.---those damn
French) spa suite, #2354, and was
huge. Over 700 sq. ft. with a spa for two in the room (I love to relax in
the
spa after standing at a craps table for 6 hours a day), and a pretty
standard
bath. We had two King-sized beds, two sitting areas, two armoires
(sp.--there go
those Frenchmen again). Windows on two walls, one facing MGM and the other
facing south to MB. We were very satisfied, but I was sort of miffed that
there
wasn't even a fruit bowl waiting, since I had told our host that it was
our
anniversary---I have never run into an omission like that before either.
Only
real complaint was that the external noises were horrendous--like a drag
race
all night. We gave up trying to determine what the noises were. Too far
from
the elevators.

Marquis suite, non-smoking. Large marble
foyer. Right smack dab by the elevators, and I was afraid that they would
bother us, but they didn't. Approximately 1000 sq feet, mostly wasted,
with two king-sized beds, two armoirs, one with a 25" TV and the
other with a clothes rack, both with drawers. A comfortable chaise lounge
and chair on one side of the room, and the obligatory small table and two
chairs near the window. Bath was nothing short of ordinary, small with a
combo shower/tub. All the accoutrements. In-room safe, ironing board. No
coffee pot. Jacuzzi plenty big for two in the corner of the room, which
came in handy soaking my dogs after hours at the craps table. View was
mostly the ceiling of the casino/restaurants, but looked across to MGM,
Tropicana, and most of the way north on the strip up to Paris and
Aladdin. Index

posted 4/29/02 Now
we're up on the 24th floor (2464) in a large room with a great view of the
strip. These are very nice new rooms, tastefully decorated with pleasing
art deco furniture, and all the supplies you'd want including an iron,
ironing board, hairdryer and in-room safe. Bottled water is gonna run us
$4 if we drink the in-room stuff. No WAY Index

This was our first stay here. We received a
"bring a friend" offer in the mail, which gave us a $139 weekend rate.
Normally I like to stay downtown on the weekend and then move to the
strip, but our traveling companions weren't real enthusiastic about
staying downtown. I was favorably impressed with NYNY. The staff was
actually very friendly. We stayed in Room 3024 (30th floor, king,
non-smoking) in the Century Tower, which seemed to be about in the center
of the hotel, with a strip view. The airport was directly in front, with
MGM Grand on the left and Excalibur/Luxor/Mandalay Bay to the right. We
were high enough that roller coaster noise was not a factor. The room was
maybe a little larger than a standard size hotel room, with Art Deco
decor. The shampoo, conditioner, lotion, and mouthwash in the bathroom
were in exactly the same bottles as at the Golden Nugget. There was a
safe in the room. I would consider staying here again, although they've
taken out all of their good video poker, so maybe not. An aside - the
system for using the elevator requires a room key to be inserted to get to
any floor in the Century Tower. Not since the inclinators at the Luxor
have I seen intoxicated hotel guests having so much difficulty in using an
elevator. Index

Room 2707 posted 5/25/04
A corner of the Empire State Building a few
floors below the roof of the green/black building nearby. Room
technically faces the parking lot and pool but there's SO MANY WINDOWS
that you can see all the way up to Treasure Island with the Strat on the
distance, all the way to the other side of the strip and the top of the
Excalibur towers and Mandalay's THEhotel. Although I previously called
NYNY my least favorite big name on the Strip (because of the roller
coaster roaring overhead and the layout), I have a better opinion of it
as a hotel guest. Everything was well themed, the hotel tower is a real
feat of architecture although the hallways are kind of weird as a result
of it. There's windows everywhere in the hallways, even the vending
machine room, our own room was like having an observation deck with beds
and a TV on the 27th floor because you could see so much, though we saw
some rooms that didn't have that kind of view, and were actually smaller.
If you're going to NYNY and can't get an official Strip view room, or
don't want to pay for whatever premium they may charge you for one, I'd
recommend asking about this room. You'll see everything from south strip,
the Orleans, Palms, Rio, and almost every one of the mid strip icons, even
the Bellagio fountain show from a distance. Roller coaster is not a
problem since most of the screaming is on the other side of the
green/black building where it reaches it's fastest point, before going to
the majority of the track on the other side. Index

Room 2576 Park Avenue posted 4/6/05
At NYNY we stored our bags thinking we couldn't checkin until 3:00PM. We
tried anyways and they had a room for us. We had booked a Park Avenue
room.
I didn't try the $20 trick, I mentioned that last year we got a strip view
room with two queens instead of a non strip view with a king. The desk
clerk checked and said that she could give us a strip view with a king for
an extra $15 a night. I asked if it was the same style room or an
upgrade.
She said same style. I said no thank you.
For those keeping track, we got room 2576. It had a king size, and a
strip
view. I'm not sure what the $15 would have gotten us. Last year we were
in
a Broadway Deluxe room. The Park Avenue is definitely smaller. The room
was filled by the king size bed. The bath was nice size though. One
thing
that carried through from last year was that NYNY likes using those darn
compact fluorescent bulbs. They take time to warm up so I had to turn the
light on in the bathroom then walk out and do something else until it was
bright enough to see. The strip view was slightly limited by the building
wall extending out from our wall. We had a nice view farther south but
not
north. We looked directly across to the M&M store. The biggest drawback
of
this room is that it was located extremely far from the elevator. 137
steps
to be exact. I think NYNY's lack of elevators is a problem.
