Luxor Room 13345 East Tower
Mini-suite - in a word, fantastic!
Our room was absolutely lovely. According to our brochure, the room
measured 780 square feet - it was huge! It was very tastefully
appointed, with everything fitting in well with the Egyptian theme, down
to the upholstery on the couch and chairs. I have created a web page
showing out trip pictures, including pictures of the mini-suite, for
anyone who is interested - take a look
at .
For anyone who wants a really nice
room, I would definitely recommend a mini suite at Luxor. We were in
room 13345 in the east (front) tower. We had a view of the hotel,
airport and the Tropicana, not much else, but good enough - it was kind of
interesting to see how many planes take off from McCarran. The bathroom
had double sinks, blow drier, a lighted make-up mirror, Jacuzzi tub and
separate shower. Instead of just soap, shampoo, lotion and shower
caps, like the standard rooms, our room had really nice spa lotions - i.e.
facial cleanser, exfoliant, shower gel, bath salts, nice body lotion, etc.
- all with lovely scents. We were hoping to get those replaced every
day (I chucked them all in my
suitcase, hoping for a payload of them as the week wore on); alas, it
looks like a one shot deal on your first night. We did convince the
maid to bring us one more set - they are locked up and she had to ask the
head housekeeper. Nice stuff and for any female who likes that kind
of thing, it was a treat. We booked the mini-suite so that we could
have everyone back to our room after our "renewal". It
worked out very well; there was enough room for nine people to sit, after
shuffling chairs a bit. Having the wet bar and fridge was nice - we made
lots of use of them. We brought insulated cooler cups and always
filled them up before heading to the pool. (Great way to save a few bucks
if you want to have lots of drinks at the pool. We also brought an
insulated cooler bag to put ice and drinks in for the pool - we poured
them discretely and no one said anything - of course, no glass near the
pool.) Index
Luxor
Room 18307
From 2/27 to 3/3 My wife and I stayed at Luxor room 18307, east tower. The
room was moderate sized. My wife felt it was a little smaller than
the Pyramid room we had last year, but the sink area and tub, in addition
to the shower, in the bathroom made this room a better choice. The
room had a hair dryer, iron and ironing board, but no safe. Our window
looked out Tropicana Ave. toward The Orleans, so every morning we were
treated to a view of the mountains. However, our view was partially
obstructed by the west tower. The furnishings were American Faux Egyptian
which served to remind us of
where we were. A huge armoire housed two hanging closets, a set of
drawers, an ironing board and a 25" tv. From the east tower elevator,
the casino was down a long hallway and around a couple of bends.
From our pyramid room, last year, you practically stumbled into the gaming
area from the "inclinator".
Two negatives: First, regarding
connecting rooms, my wife could hear someone in the next room counting
coins then declaring his jackpot (ever hear of a cashier, buddy?).
Second, in the tower rooms, we could hear other doors on our hall opening
and closing. In the pyramid, we did not hear any doors, perhaps
because the rooms opened onto a walkway overlooking the attractions
level.
Overall, from 1-10, I rate the luxor as an 8 and would gladly stay there
again. Index

Waaaaaaaay up inside there. Got dizzy looking over the edge. Window
overlooks the western mountains and pool area. Short walk from the casino.
Out the casino cashier side to the inclinator. Long walk from the
inclinator to the room. (well not that long). Room was clean but getting a
bit rundown. I just sleep there though so no big deal. No tub, just a
shower. Quiet. No noise from the casino as it's too far up. Index

Pyramid room 4041
The check-in at the Luxor did not take
long, maybe a 5 - 10 min wait. We were planning on asking for a upgrade to
a Jacuzzi room from the tower room that I had reserved. But before we
could even ask, the very nice clerk at the front desk started looking for
a suite to put us in without even asking. We got our Jacuzzi suite, room
4041, 4th floor in the pyramid. We had a view of the mountains, one window
was partially blocked by the parking garage. The room was very nice and
comfy. The Jacuzzi was in front of the window with a view of the
mountains, this made for a very romantic setting.

Pyramid Room 8020
We stayed in the pyramid, room 8020. We
had a nice view of Mandalay Bay. While the room was nothing spectacular,
it was nice enough. Comparing it to the other Vegas hotels I've stayed at,
I'd say it's better than the Flamingo and Tropicana, but not as nice as
Paris. Service was outstanding; beds were comfortable, and nice toiletries
in the bathroom (soaps, body lotion, shampoo AND conditioner). The room
was impressively soundproof -- walking down the hall we could hear the
pounding bass in Ra quite clearly, but once our door was shut we didn't
hear anything. Index

Facing west, overlooking the pool.
I think the room appeared quite large,
but the sloping window and wall may have created some sort of optical
illusion. One advantage was that we used Inclinator #3 which was
closest to the pool entrance, which means that we didn't have to walk
through the casino in bathing suits. Opening up your hotel room door
and overlooking the inside of the pyramid, riding the inclinator,
having the sloping window - all made staying at the Luxor a little
different and a positive experience. We found the rooms very quiet
and security was very conscientious about making sure non-guests did
not have access to the inclinators.

Luxor
Room 28019 (pyramid)
For those of you who have not read the
many posts on the Luxor rooms before I will quickly say that the standard
pyramid rooms are a pretty basic hotel room, fairly roomy, king (or double
queen) beds, table and 2 chairs, one easy chair, a bureau with drawers and
closet, TV, phone, clock radio, iron and ironing board and a slanted
outer wall which is all glass. The bathrooms are quite roomy as well
and have a large shower, no bathtub, single sink, hairdryer, shampoo,
conditioner, body lotion and a REAL fuzzy type bath mat. All of this is
done in a strictly Egyptian theme from the new pyramid shaped
shampoo bottles down to the tiny pyramids on the bathroom wallpaper. The
room we stayed in was room 28019 and it faced south overlooking Mandalay
Bay and the airport. This has to be one of the best views of Mandalay Bay
in Las Vegas and was quite spectacular at night. After we got unpacked and
settled in, I was heading for the casino and my wife was off to bed to try
and head off a cold that she felt coming. At this point I must say
that this is the fifth stay for us at the Luxor and I quite enjoy this
hotel for many reasons. First of all the price is very good, $59.00 a
night (paid as much as $115.00 in the past depending on what is happening
in town) at this time of the year but that has always been the
casino rate I have paid in the past too. Secondly it has a big wide open
casino and registration/foyer area that feels very roomy. I hate feeling
squished in with a crowd of people, waiting in lines and pushing my way
through small isles between slot machines. Thirdly and this is only MY
OPINION, this is a hotel full of "regular" people. Not a bunch
of stuffy, snotty stuck ups. Yea, Yea, I know, I know! "regular"
people stay at the Belagio, Paris, Venetian etc. too. So hold off your
comments on this. I like it there and feel comfortable and that's why I
stay there. Index

Room 6040 (Pyramid Jacuzzi Suite)
Nights Stayed: Friday and Saturday
Price Paid: $179 (December special)
Where Booked: www.luxor.com
The Jacuzzi suites are on the corners of the pyramid, two to each corner,
therefore eight per floor. Each suite is shaped like a right triangle.
Room 6040 is right off Inclinator 2, and seems to be one of the quieter
corners (southeast). There is no casino noise when standing outside
the
door. Ice and vending machines are a very short walk away from the
room. The room is a smoking room, but there was no smell at all.
The entry is tiled and the bathroom is immediately on the left and is also
tiled. Straight ahead along the long wall (the hypotenuse) are the
two
beds and beyond that is the Jacuzzi.
Past the bathroom is a small writing desk with a small stool, then you
are in the main room. Our room had two queens, single-sheeted (i.e.,
no sheet between the blanket and comforter. The mattresses are
reasonably firm and did not sag or make noise. The clock radio does
have an alarm. There is no in-room safe.
The TV is located in a wooden unit with four drawers beneath it and a
full-height closet unit that contains an iron and ironing board.
There
is the usual selection of channels, pay movies, and video games available.
Channel 18 seemed to be a long "infomercial" of Blue Man Group,
though
there was an NBC peacock logo in the lower right corner.
A very small table and two chairs are along one wall that leads into
smaller sub-room that occupies the "right angle". It has
its own
wooden unit with TV, cabinet, and mini-fridge (empty, not one of those
minibars). There is a two-person sofa, "cushion chair",
and coffee
table. The inclined window here makes it difficult to sit on the
"cushion chair". Both this small room and the main room
have
floor-mounted air conditioner / heater units. The while decor is a muted brownish orange, very earthy tones. There
are numerous Egyptian hieroglyphics and pictographs. The Jacuzzi is beyond the
two beds, right underneath a window. Here
the inclined windows do not interfere at all. Although you must step
up onto a shelf to get in the Jacuzzi, for maximum safety, you won't
step onto it standing up, but rather put your hands on the rim of the
Jacuzzi, kneel onto the shelf, then step down into the Jacuzzi.
The Jacuzzi is shaped like a four-leafed clover. Two facing petals
have
seats, the other two let you sit with the water up to your neck. It
takes about 7-10 minutes to fill it. I didn't time how long it takes
to
drain.
While sitting in the Jacuzzi, you can open the blind with a plastic cord
(the blinds in the smaller room must be opened by hand). This room
has
a reasonable view of Mandalay Bay and whatever structure is being built
between it and the Luxor.
The bathroom is tiled. There is no tub (not that you need one!), and
the shower can easily hold two. There is the usual supply of
amenities
(shampoo, conditioner, body lotion, shower cap, but no sewing kit!-).
The toilet is a low-water-usage vacuum-assisted model. The mirror is
absolutely huge, two can use it at the same time. There is only one
sink. A hair-drier is provided.
Drawbacks: Because the bathroom is tiled, it can be a bit slippery.
Watch yourself!
There was no noticeable noise from the room above, or the regular room
next door (because of the geometry of the room, the common wall is in
the smaller room of the suite). You do share the bathroom wall,
though,
so keep your door closed at night and that will cut down on the noise.
However, the suite shares the long wall with the Jacuzzi suite next door.
The noise from filling the Jacuzzi is quite noticeable. Also, because of
the tiled entry and bathroom, if someone next door to you is wearing
"loud shoes", you will hear it. If you're a light sleeper,
you should
bring earplugs or a white noise generator. Index
Luxor Rooms 2075 and 22144
posted
2/6/01
We arrived and checked in to the room
(2075) to find that our
non-smoking room had not always been non-smoking. It smelled, and
one of the nightstands had a large cigarette burn mark. The room had not been remodeled and the shower had mold between the tiles. The room
was a strange shape and the blinds were difficult to operate. Not what I
expect from a hotel rated 4 stars by Expedia. I'd have much
preferred a
Best Western.
We called to move rooms the next day and got a much better room, thank
goodness (22144). This room had been remodeled with new carpet and a
completely new bathroom. Still not 4-star quality, but greatly
improved.
When we moved, my husband left his jacket
and one of the shirts in the
armoire (no closets). Two hours later we realized the mistake and
went
to the front desk. The hotel did little to help us (they had already
moved someone else into the room) and we checked with them at least 5
different times. Am I wrong that we should expect them to be able to
recover the items given the short time-span from leaving them to
reporting them missing? Unless the new guests took them and lied
when
they were asked about them, the hotel should be able to get them back.

From what I had read here I asked
for a room above the 20th floor and for some sort of view as to not be
reminded about my previous trip. I got the 23rd floor room 97.
The room is almost as far away from the inclinator that it could be and
even on that floor the hallways are plenty long enough, but this was no
big deal. The room was fine, everything worked. The view was
of the back corner of the Excalibur, top of NYNY and the MGM.
All good. Best of all, there was zero noise from below when our door
was closed. Index

Room 9361 (tower) posted
6/9/01
Not a good room if you want a nice view.
The room overlooked a roof and everything else was blocked by the Pyramid
itself. The Tower rooms are very spacious, with a king size bed and a
bathroom with separate tub and shower. There's a large armoire which holds
the TV and had an iron and ironing board. In the bathroom they have a
make-up mirror, hair drier, phone by the toilet and various shampoos,
lotions, soaps and conditioners. One very strange thing happened to us.
Not long after we got in our room, someone from Housekeeping brought us
two very nice Luxor robes, with slippers, toothbrushes, razors and more
bathroom goodies. We have no idea why they did this. We never called and
asked for this stuff and they've never in the past done this.
"NOTE" one slight drawback to arriving early is that they
usually don't have a room ready for you. We had to wait until 12:00pm to
get into our room. Since we had the rental car we just left the bags in
the trunk. "NOTE" if you ever check in at the Luxor main
registration and it's very crowded, go to the check-in at the Tower
registration. It's usually not as crowded and you can still get Pyramid
rooms if you like at no extra charge. Index

Recommend: Yes
Agency: Won a trip thru funjet out of Milwaukee. Run of the house
room.
Amenities: With a simple letter to the management we were upgraded to a
suite in the west tower. This room was very elegant. When you
enter the room you enter into a foyer with a dining room straight ahead.
Small wet bar area to the left and living area to the right. Living
area had full sofa, loveseat, chair table and separate entertainment area.
Floor to ceiling windows the length of the suite. To the left of the
living area was our bedroom with king bed. Floor to ceiling windows.
Down a hallway was the bath. Toilet area with phone. Jacuzzi
tub and separate shower. The bath was all marble in shades of
beige/orange and yellow. Lighting could have been a little brighter.
View: Overlook the pool and Rio suites. We were in the west
tower.
Other: Casino was very quiet, but all the bartenders were very
talkative and appreciated any tips. We had breakfast in the
cafe-stay away-the food was horrible. Runny scrabbled eggs, burnt
hamburgers, not worth the money. Index

I'm not sure if all the Jacuzzi rooms are
the same at the Luxor, but this room was huge. Much larger than I
had expected. Very deep with a table an chairs and two beds.
We were surprised that it had another room with a second TV, phone and bar
refrigerator, couch and chair. The bathroom was very large. Two
comments on this room involved a bathroom fan that didn't work and an
outside door knob that needed to be lifted up before the key would work.
No big deal. Room number was 13160 for those keeping track.
This was on the corner closest to Mandalay Bay facing the airport.
We could see the strip to the left although we couldn't see all that far
down it. Index

After
reading the previous posts I don't have much to add about the amenities in
the pyramid hotel rooms. To
avoid redundancy I'll only mention things not yet covered and things
specific to the room. My room
was accessed by the bank on inclinator #3 elevators.
Each bank only stops on a small subset of the floors and don't
overlap, so if your room is on the opposite corner away from the
inclinator that's a very long walk. My
room was only two doors down from the inclinators and the vending and ice
machines. The door opened up
right into the inclinator structure beam so you had to walk about 10 feet
to look down on the casino. Having
the wall there could help shield some of the casino noise but being up on
the 20th floor the casino noise was negligible.
We did the old trick of one person making a reasonable amount of
racket around the ice machine while the other listens in room.
The soundproofing was adequate so the room was a go, and over the
two days we had no trouble with noisy people around the inclinators.
The only unwanted noise was from neighboring rooms flushing
toilets. They use those
high-pressure tanks with a button on top of the tank, and they make a
noisy and sharp whoosh. They
also had the best bathroom goodies (shampoo, conditioner, etc) I've ever
experienced in Vegas. I left
a two-dollar tip on the pillow with a thankyou note for housekeeping, and
they left three of everything without asking.
No
safes in the room but they offer free safe deposit boxes next to the main
check-in. I swear it seemed
like the same attendant (Richard) was there 24 hours, and he will talk
your ear off if you let him. Very
nice and professional guy though. After
reading the posts I was ready to try the tower check-in desk but the front
desk was efficient and had no problems getting into the room at 1pm.
They warn you at the front desk about the phone charges and they
were sizable, so use your cellular phone if you have one.
The room looked out over the towers and parts of Excaliber, Palms,
and other casinos to the west were visible.
Given most of the view was looking over the connecting roof it
wasn't the best I've had at the Luxor.
I prefer looking towards the airport and watching the planes land.
Saw
the Blue Man Group show and would have seen it twice if I had the time.
Excellent show. Spent
a lot of time playing at the $5 blackjack tables and the dealers and
fellow patrons were hospitable.
The
only meal was at the Pyramid Cafe for breakfasts.
The service was quick which I appreciate for a breakfast snack.
Had eggs benedict both days and the portions were large, but the
hollandaise sauce was "off" on the second day.
I can't put my finger on what went wrong but the sauce was way to
thick and the just not like the previous day. Cost was about $15/person. Index

We checked out our room on the 5th floor of
the West Tower (tried for an upgrade but nothing available). Room 5233.
Clean, larger then most hotel rooms I've been in, with two queen size
beds. The air functioned and was adjustable. Tons of towels though the
scratchy hotel kind. Little bottles of lotion, shampoo, conditioner and 2
soaps in the biffy. (I took these home with me later. These can also be
bought in bigger sizes down in the Galleria). Separate shower stall and
bathtub. The room was lovely though we had a crappy view of the big black
pyramid and a roof. The blankets on the bed sucked - they felt like foam,
ick! $1 charge per phone calls even local kind of sucked too. Room was
$59/$109/$129 for the week which I split with my roomie. Virtually all the
staff were friendly. I had wonderful service everywhere I went. Index

West tower, very nice standard room. Two
double beds, nice credenza that included a 25" (or 27"?) TV, six
drawers, and two closets. Nice sized bathroom with tile floors, glass
shower, soaking tub. Two comfortable chairs flanking a small metal
table. Horrible view overlooking the roof of the commons area
between the two towers. We could see the mountains to the east of town a
little, but mostly blocked by the East Tower and the Pyramid. Was hoping
to see the lights running on the outer edges of the pyramid but was told
that has not worked for quite some time, and that Luxor is in the process
of suing the company that installed it. Index

Stayed at the Luxor in a tower room. We
like the tower rooms because you have a larger bathroom with tub and
seperate shower. I think the bedroom area is also bigger than the Pyramid
rooms. We were in room #11307, which was almost at the end of the hallway
and looked west towards the Orleans, but it was also very quiet. Only time
I ever heard any noise from any other room was in the morning when I took
a shower. You could hear the shower going in the bathroom next door. Did
not have to wait in line to check-in and we were able to talk the check-in
person out of a couple more spa passes for free. Index

Right across from La Salsa on the attractions level. We get to the
room. The room is a typical Luxor room in the pyramid. 2 beds,(I
forgot to ask for a king room) slanted window looking out over the main
valet area. Nice sized closet, big bathroom with shower only and
plenty of stuff on the counter in the bathroom to make us smell nice.
We have never stayed in the tower so we do not know if we are missing
anything. We don't care about the view anymore. We only care that the
blinds shut all the way to keep the sun out in the morning. Room was

nice. We chose the double queen beds because we could immediately get

The rooms were really nice. The angled walls was a nice architecture

Room 2130
posted 8/27/06 We have stayed at
Luxor many times. We are
not interested in a view from a high floor. We are however interested
in a room on the 2nd through 5th floor that is serviced by the glass
back elevator right behind the check in counter. We got our room,
number 2130 I believe, and we headed off to get a safe deposit box.
Unlike Mandalay Bay, the rooms at Luxor do not have a safe. David, the
guy running the safe deposit boxes recognized us again. What a nice
guy. Always has some great coupons for us. Dumped our cash in the box
and headed to the room.
The room was in the pyramid. We have never had a room in the newer
towers. We like being close to the elevator, the front door, the ice
machines, and of course the casino. The room was nice enough as always.
There was a table and 2 chairs, a king sized bed, a 27" tv, and another
chair in the corner next to the floor lamp. The bathroom only has a
shower, which we prefer, and there was only one sink. The toilet is not
in a separate room. And no phone next to the toilet either. There was a
copy of MGM's new magazine on the desk as you walk into the room. No
good coupons, just a lot of info on all of the MGM properties. Index
