Imperial Palace Room 706

We had a standard room. The beds were comfortable even if the bottom sheet didn't cover the mattress entirely. (!) The pillows were new and fluffy. View was of the rooftop of neighboring building. The people at the business center where we had to hook up our computer, were very helpful. The lady in the sundries store downstairs was very suspicious. Follows you around as if you are going to stuff a bottle of wine and a bag of popcorn  in your tank top. We took our sundries business to Harrah's. The bathroom was more of a steam bath. After a normal length shower, huge droplets of water accumulated on the ceiling. It was difficult to dry off in there and we had to use the wall-mounted hair dryer to blow ourselves dry!  The first three nights the two of us were supplied with one each of the bath, hand, washcloths. The last night we had TWO each and they were thick and fluffy!  Also, on the last night, the bathtub drain decided to work instead of letting the water crawl up our ankles.

We had a  $50.00 meal credit which was a NICE surprise and it was easy to use at all the restaurants there. Index

Imperial Palace: Room 7104 posted 5/2/01

Non smoking 2 double bed room; the rooms have been recently remodeled and are quite comfortable (if somewhat basic). $39/noc 7 days a week on casino rate. Very close to the elevators (an important feature in the maze that the IP can be). Essentially no view, does have a sliding glass door opening on to a small open air balcony. Dresser, TV, table, 2 chairs. The IP has improved their bathrooms by moving shower heads to a more normal height using a "gooseneck" fixture. Quiet, clean and comfortable, black out drapes completely cover window to facilitate sleeping in. Index

Imperial Palace: Room 1207 posted 9/6/01

As we entered the room, I was prepared for anything and everything. To my surprise, the room was really very nice. I asked for and got a room with a king sized bed. Besides the bed, the room came with 4 walls, a floor and a ceiling. I had to admit, so far I was getting my 29 bucks worth. The room itself was fairly spacious.
Along with the above, the room also had a TV w/remote control. There was a hair dryer in the bathroom, which my wife was happy to see. There was a good selection of towels and 1 bottle each of shampoo and conditioner. I gallantly opted to surrender these to my wife, after which she released her choke hold on my neck. There was also an alarm clock. A large dresser provided ample space for us to store our clothes. There was one little thing I didn't care for.
The clothes rack had coat hangers that could not be removed. This made it impossible for me to hang up any pull on shirts. All my shirts are pull ons.... Shirt buttons confuse me, among other things. The room had a small walk out balcony, and our room directly faced the pool. There was a sticker on the door leading to the balcony that warned the door automatically locks from the outside. It didn't. And the room cooling units shut off automatically when the door was opened. They didn't. But since we were on the 12th floor, it didn't seem like that big a deal.
There was a note on the bed that advised due to the energy crunch, they were tacking on an extra $3.00 fee to our bill. I thought that was fair enough, and immediately turned the a/c up to one level above perma-frost.
The bed was very comfortable, with clean sheets. I didn't break the bed down to examine the under sheets. The a/c worked great. The door leading to the balcony had a drape on it that was somewhat thin, and allowed some amount of light to come through. But there was a 2nd much heavier drape behind  it. When that baby was pulled across, the room looked like Oh Dark Thirty in the morning. It not only kept stray light out, but I think it would stop most high caliber rifle bullets as well.
Over all, I have to say I was more than a little pleased with the room. What the heck, for $29.00, how could I go wrong. Index

I didn't stay in this room and I hope none of you are ever asked to.  It's a long story but the front desk person had a burr up her behind and stuck us in one of the smaller rooms to be funny.  We immediately changed rooms.  There are some smaller IP rooms with only a window overlooking the balconies, so no balcony access.  The room was smaller than small and had a king-size bed, one small dresser, and that's about it.  The furnishings were old and well used.  It's one of their "last resort" rooms where they stuff the unfortunate when the hotel is full.  They also stuff people in the "motel" area out back which is a long walk and not very nice.  The worst thing about this room is the wall just behind the bed's headboard is the elevator shaft!  It is noisy, small, old, dilapidated, and probably the worst hotel room I've ever seen in Las Vegas.  Switched to room 1303 which is a more typical IP room and were satisfied. The previous posts did justice to what to expect from this room.  IP rooms are of reasonable size and the furnishings were standard and most importantly clean.  Although it is small, I really like having balcony access which is rare for some reason in Vegas.  The view was one of the better ones I've had at the IP.  I had a full view of the IP pool from the short end.  To the right was the Flamingo pool and associated gardens.  The room didn't have a safe but free safety deposit boxes were available at the casino cage.  The wall mount air conditioning unit was functional but couldn't make the room into an icebox in August.  I tipped housekeeping every day and never received any extra towels or bathroom goodies (shampoo, etc).  The bathroom goodies were subpar so it was no great loss.  For the money the IP is still a great bargain considering it's mid strip location.  I received two free buffet passes with the package, and unless it is free I wouldn't recommend the buffet which like the IP is just basic.  Crashing in Vegas in a standard room is one thing, but eating boring standard food is unconceivable to me while in Vegas. Imperial Palace Room 3129 posted 11/24/02

We stayed here during the HWTH 3rd Annual Sporgy. Wanted to avoid Caveman Joe's "Mexican Apartment" arrangement at the timeshare. Was lucky enough to find a 75 dollar per night room via Travelaxe as everything else during SEMA convention week was overpriced. The room itself is no great shakes. Two regular double beds which makes sharing with another guy difficult at best. The view is enhanced by a semi-functional balcony, but alas looks over the poor excuse of a pool area at the IP. Mostly concrete and other balconies. No safe, and as mentioned before the bathroom condiments were almost non existent. A basic functional room. One oddity was that the room is on the 3rd floor, NOT the 31st. There IS a room 329 on this floor, so go figure. The other mentionable were the notoriously slow IP elevators. You can avoid them by bounding down the stairs, but you can't take them UP because some Einstein has decided to LOCK the stairwell doors, so you are left waiting and waiting and waiting at the Elevator by the Mai Tai bar. Amenities: We had booked (last minute) a king non smoking, but were told that they had overbooked and would we mind upgrading to a king suite, free of charge? No complaints here - we got the 'luvtub' suite which included a king sized bed, table, 2 chairs, large dresser, end tables, TV with remote and the massive 'luvtub'. Mirrors over the tub and bed (fun!) The shower is in the tub, which makes it easy to shower with two people. More fun! Amenities include soap - conditioner shampoo and some blueberry bath gel for the tub. The bathroom has double sinks, large surface for spreading out your stuff. No safe, but working hair dryer and iron and ironing board. View: The view is just over the parking lot and you can see the other rooms and their balconies. Basically you can see nothing unless you are into voyeurism, maybe you'll catch someone doing something naughty. However, one of the main downfalls of some rooms in this hotel is that the strip views can get really noisy at night due to live music at Harrah's. I didn't think it would bother me, but 3am in Vegas is like 6am to us because of the time difference, and that's a bit too much blaring noise (especially since it's all cheap cover bands). Other: This was my first time in Vegas, so it was a great location to see everything and cheap so I didn't have too high expectations.  To be upgraded to a suite without a problem was wonderful.  We checked in about 6pm on a Friday night so we had about 45 minute wait but didn't see lineups at any other time.  The elevators were slow until we realized that there were two other elevators behind the three main ones that no one seemed to be using.  We didn't eat in the restaurants, having been warned that the buffet was one of the worst in Vegas, and I hate buffets, even the good ones. The only real negative was we returned to our room at 4pm on Saturday to find that it hadn't been made up yet.  We had been out early that morning and we wanted to rest up, so we were not going to get out of the room until the maid service came by, so we just kept it as is. They did make it earlier the next day.  For a first visit it was an excellent choice, and we really lucked out, but I don't think we'll return here, the casino wasn't our style, so I think we'll try something either a bit more upscale, or go cheap on the north end of the strip Index

Imperial Palace Room: 1769 posted 8/27/03

My room was 1769 on a non-smoking floor in the middle of a maze of corridors that is the IP hotel (the room overlooked a courtyard; the view was that of other IP rooms). I like the Y corridor configuration at such hotels as Treasure Island and Mirage. You canšt get lost and you can get to your room fairly quick ... if you start down the right corridor. At the IP, you must zig-zag down one hall after another. I was instructed to use the main bank of elevators near the back before the shops. Most hotel guests use these elevators and going up and coming down is a test of patience. The elevator will stop on most  floors whether going up or down. And the elevators move slow. On my second day I used the three car elevator bank closest to Las Vegas Blvd (near the Geisha bar). Wonderful. Few people use these elevators and an elevator always seemed to be waiting for me. Better yet, the walk to my room was  not much longer (maybe even shorter) or complicated as the original route. Something to consider if youšll be staying at the IP in the future.  I learned this property was built in 1976. My first visit to Las Vegas was a 3-night stay at the Imperial Palace some 12 years ago. Not much has changed, even the staff readily admits this. The shag carpet is gone. The room itself featured a king size bed. Everything else about the room was basic, Motel 6 quality. The comforter was torn in spots. The carpet was in great shape. Išm no fashion designer but the color scheme used throughout the hotel and the room was jarring. Youšll never confuse the elegance of the Venetian, Treasure Island, or Paris with the IP. Yikes!  The room, and I believe most IP rooms, have a balcony: a ledge about 2 feet wide with a railing. No room safe, but a hair dryer and a ironing board with iron is provided. The batteries in my TVšs remote were dead. The room featured a LCD clock but no radio. There are three stations I like listening two while in LV (i.e. classic rock, hard rock type music  like that on 96.3 and, if I remember correctly, 92.5).  For the first time I decided to use a hotelšs safety deposit boxes  (located by the Cashiers cage mid-casino floor). It was convenient and didnšt cost anything. And  more importantly it provided peace of mind. Why risk leaving  valuables in your room unsecured? Index

Imperial Palace Room: 1523 posted 7/20/04

Room 1523 of the Imperial Palace, typical IP room.  No
complaints for the price ($89/night) on what figured to be a pretty
busy weekend--I believe we got some never used food vouchers as well.
No view, unless you count the Wells Fargo building in the Hughes
Center, and some drabby apartments as a view.  Index

Imperial Palace Room: 4140 posted 11/20/04

This was our first time at the IP - our first time there. Not a
disappointment. The location is perfect. Room 4140 was adequate - clean,
with good quality sheets (an important factor for me) although the pillows
appeared to have been washed a few too many times to be effective. Our view
was a good, if obstructed by greenery growing outside our window, look at
the pool area. The toilet did not have a lid, just like I read in a prior
post, but it DID have 2-ply toilet paper. Also a plus. Most importantly,
there was a bank of elevators immediately adjacent to our room. Quiet
elevators, since hardly anyone but us seemed to be using them. Index

Pleasant Surprises #1:  Luggage was lost/misplaced on outbound fight!
Chicago to LAS flight segment was delayed & then sat on the ground for
over two hours.  These may sound like bad things but I WASN'T going to
let anything run this holiday so I took a positive attitude towards
the IP with only a small carry on bag in hand.  Didn't whine about my
plight and asked politely for a room facing the Harrahs party pit, and
informed them my luggage might be appearing one day.  The guy took
pity on me and gave me a strip view "suite"-ish room (#1802).  Great
view of Caesar and it was huge for the IP!  Not a bad base camp for
the first 7 days @ $29/49 night....Index
