Harrah's
Room C2418 Carnavale Tower
Spent last Sunday and Monday there. We can't be talking about the same
Harrah's Carnavale tower! We were in room C2418, it looked east. It
was the poorest room I have ever had in Vegas. Peeling wallpaper, dirty
stained chairs, rusty stained bathroom hardware, old and nasty looking
tile grouting, broken plastic toilet seat. Table between beds was so worn
that the paint was actually missing in large areas on the top service. All
the hotel computers went down and they could not tell us till late
afternoon how much our bill was (They had my credit card number, and will
mail it to us.) The room was so bad that the valet apologized for it. He
said they were remodeling, but starting on the floors above and working
down. I was extremely disappointed. I had a players rate for 1 night, and
a 2nd night free, and still I would never go back. Checked in at 3:30 PM,
very long lines, 9 computer terminals available, 3 persons checking people
in. And I don't know where they get their water, but in all my trips to
Las Vegas I've
never smelled water as bad as it was. NEVER, NEVER, AGAIN!! Index

Smoking: Yes
Day: Thursday Friday Saturday
Rate: Room was free, not even charged the energy surcharge
Recommend: Yes
Agency: Through slot host
Amenities: The room must've been a newly renovated one. There was nothing
wrong with the walls, wallpaper, carpeting or anything that I could see.
The room had 2 comfortable queen beds, a large armoire that housed the tv,
a closet on each side with hangers, iron and ironing board, extra pillow,
several drawers for putting clothes inside and a mini fridge that includes
those pesky motion sensors. (Don't move anything or you'll be charged for
it.) Also, had a round table w/ 2 chairs and a nightstand between the
beds. The A/C was small and uses sensors that turns it on when you're in
the room. Set the thermostat to the lowest setting 65* and you should be
comfortable. There was no coffee maker in this room. Shower/tub and
bathroom was your standard hotel room bath -- no Jacuzzi's, marble floors
or mirrors. Water pressure in the shower was just okay, IMO - I would have
preferred a shower massager, but that's just me, LOL. Due to energy
conservation: Towels are not changed daily unless you throw them on the
floor. Room was rather dark for my taste due to the low wattage light bulbs.
Aside from all of the above, the room had the standard shampoo,
conditioner, shower cap, two types of soap and the ice bucket. View: We
had a partial strip view -- a great view of the Mirage volcano, parts of
the Mirage hotel and the Casino Royale parking deck below us. We were only
in the rooms to sleep so it was good enough for us.
We liked the location and would stay here again. The room was very decent
-- nothing lavish like the Venetian, but we had no check in troubles or
customer service problems, either. We were treated well regarding comps
while there and in fact they even sent us a comp offer before we checked
out of the hotel. (I just got it in the mail yesterday.) It was convenient
to walk to other mid strip properties like the Venetian, Caesar's, Mirage,
Treasure Island, Casino Royale, Imperial Palace, Flamingo, Bally's.

The room is a long walk down the corridor
and it has two windows - one overlooking the construction going on next
door, and the other peeking out between the construction and a wall that
has an ok view of the Mirage volcano. It's a fairly large room with a
refrigerator, couch, a king bed, and one of those pay as you go snack
things. On the table, is a very nice fruit basket with cookies, fruit,
chocolate, nuts, water, and various other little snacks.

For those familiar with Harrahs, to get
to this room (which is in the back wing), you turn right at the fork after
the elevators rather than left. Well, room 2822 was an experience. The
view was of the Venetian parking garage's construction, the Hilton, and
the mountains beyond. But the bathroom smelled of mold and mildew, the
wallpaper was peeling, the rug was getting threadbare, and the doorknob to
the door of the adjacent room looked like it was about to fall off.

and continued until 6:30 PM. Chain saw and pounding, glad I wasn't
napping at the time. The toilet was very noisy also when flushed.

Day:
Sunday Monday Tuesday Saturday
Rate: $50 inc Sat
Agency: Direct phone call to Harrahs in LV
Amenities: Iron and board and hair dryer.
View: We were told it was to be a strip view. We had a small v shaped
wedge of the strip, we could see about three cars at a time driving by. A
great view of roofs and A/C vents. A view of the top of the Mirage
Volcano. Other: Check in was fast and easy, our room had a very
comfortable king sized bed. There were the usual toiletries; soap,
shampoo, shower cap...nothing special. A large armoire and enough drawer
space for two people for 4 nights. We had a non smoking room on a non
smoking floor. On Sunday when we returned from breakfast we smelled fresh
cigarette smoke, contacted mgmt and were told someone must have been
smoking in the hall and that there was nothing they could do about it. On
Monday we smelled it first thing as we woke up...they said they would send
up Security to check it out, nothing was done about it. We left for the
day...came back and smelled smoke again and they could not change our room
as they were completely booked The next day Tuesday they offered us
another room, but we were leaving the next day. When we checked out, my
husband spoke to the manager and was told that they could do nothing about
smoking on non-smoking rooms. IMO...if they have rules, they should be
able to enforce them. Perhaps if we were high rollers they would have
comped our room, but alas we are not. We will not stay there again. Index

small suite, with 2 rooms, and a large bathroom with separate shower,

Non-smoking. Comped.
Nothing special at all. At the end of the hall with virtually no view,
though view was not an issue. Usual amenities for a nice Holiday Inn,
though the hair-dryer was the standard plastic joke. Did have an iron and
ironing board. Also, the Server-Bar was nice to have, but someone had
raided it already, and if my wife had not been up to the room when they
came to service it, we would have really been charged (and later comped)
for what we took (not). Index

Nice room with extra space. The chairs were very uncomfortable, no coffee
maker, did have a mini bar at quite high prices, 2.50 for a normal
Snickers bar. We didn't touch it. The King bed was very comfortable.
Did not have any Room service so we cannot comment on that. Maid service
was done when ever we returned. Index

Non-smoking, King
Large doorways and elevated toilet, so must have been for handicapped
patrons, and seemed a little larger than we had remembered Harrah's rooms
to be. Still, was smallish. Single sink in bathroom. Virtually no counter
space. Darkish. Small Holiday Inn type towels. Really only the basic
basics of accoutrements. View of the IP mainly, but could see Caesars
across the way. No in-room safe. The usual armoir with a 25" TV (if
that?). Who cared? We only were there to sleep and shower. Index

an iron and ironing board in the armoire.
View: The view looked out over the parking garage at the Venetian to TI

worked for my buddy and I. Oh well, we were on a gambling trip.

diamond check-in, June was very nice. She said we were on a high
floor but I told her we had requested 35 with the nice windows that look
out in two directions. She danced her fingers on the key board and could
only find a smoking room, and the wife says no way. More looking and
talks to a supervisor and says ok, not on 35 but a very nice room on 30,
its a corner. She also got my wife a pass for the diamond club so she
could use it when I was not around. For people who are nice, I bring
with me US Proof Sets, have all the current year coins and the state
coins for this year, and cost about $24. June got the first Proof set of
the trip. Room C3051 looks out towards the Mirage. It has a marble foyer
with a walk in closet. The living room has two couches and a wet bar
with refrigerator also a table with four chairs and a chest with the 25
inch tv. The bed room has two love seats and a 25inch tv, a desk and
chair for a laptop and a king size bed. The bath was separated from the
bedroom by windows with blinds in them, had a Jacuzzi tub and separate
sinks with long counters. (I got the smaller one). A separate room for
the john. The shower had two heads and big enough for two people. A
fruit basket showed up with cheeses and water and stuff. Only thing that
is not good in Vegas is the lighting. They try to conserve energy and
the lighting is terrible. We saw June the next day in the casino and she
thanked us again for the coin set. Twenty bucks is good but a gift can
be more thoughtful.

I asked the very nice lady at the front desk
if they couldn't arrange
for a room upgrade because it was hard enough to get my wife to even
stay at Harrah's, and she looked around a while and found us what she
called a "mini-suite."
Room #2801, Harrah's, non-smoking, Carnival Tower, comped:
King bed with a fair amount of room between an opposing full couch and
an armoire to the left of the bed with two closet enclosures and a
pretty old TV. Did have an ironing board and a minibar which always
goes unopened in our family. View wasn't half bad, for Harrah's, and we
could even make out Bellagio fountains to the left. Bath was a great
deal larger than the standard Holiday Inn Harrah's bath, but still had
one sink and a shower/tub combo with an open commode. No in-room safe,
which is always a hassle, so we had to get a safe deposit box
downstairs, as usual. We weren't ecstatic about the accommodations, but
pleased.

This room was 6 1/2 steps to the nearest
elevator; it was 8 steps to the furthest
elevator. The room itself was a typical small room with 2 queen size
beds, a round table with 2 chairs, and armoire with a clothes closet on
each side and 4 drawers under the television. There of course was an
iron and ironing board and extra pillows. In the bathroom the tub and
shower were combined, the sink area had plenty of room on each side for
all our toiletries. Harrah's provided 4 bath towels, hand towels, and
wash cloths, along with shampoo, 2 soaps, lotion, and a shower cap.
The view from the room was looking down to the pool. This is a great
room for anyone who needs to be close to the elevator. Oh, I almost
forgot, it also had that thingy where you can buy overpriced junk but I
never looked at it, or in it.
